St. Andre welcome team

WHO IS THAT? As a member of the Holy Cross Congregation, Br. André Bessette, CSC was assigned to be the doorkeeper of the Notre Dame College in Montreal. He engaged in this ministry with a sense of radical hospitality; always looking to meet the needs of those he encountered. Br. André Bessette, C.S.C. was canonized a saint on October 27, 2010.

So, St. André is now the name sake of our Welcome Weekend team since we seek to offer the same sense of hospitality to new students and their families and guests, as well as accompanying new students in their first year at the University and in Walsh.

Hey y’all!!! My name is Avery and I am a rising junior from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania studying Sociology, Peace Studies, and Sustainability. I’m the Sustainability Thanksgiving Commissioner at Walsh next year, so look forward to having the SICKEST (in a good way) Sustainability Thanksgiving (a zero waste Thanksgiving that Walsh holds every year). I simply can’t wait to meet each and every one of you and welcome you into Walsh with the openest of arms. I’m happy to chat anytime, although I always get particularly psyched about sustainability (whaatt), anime, tea, and pictures of animals wearing crocheted hats.

What’s up home sizzles!? My name is Mia and I am a rising sophomore from the burbs of Chicago. I am majoring in applied and computational mathematics and statistics (ACMS) and minoring in actuarial science and economic and business history (I’m out of breath after typing that). I’m so excited to lead and meet all of you as the Welcome Weekend co-captain! Other things I do around campus include serving as the treasurer of Walsh, working at the DPAC ticket office, and becoming one with the squirrels (yeah, I know I sound nuts…what acorn-y joke #MyPunsAreAlwaysIntended). If you ever need a pun, come and visit me. Some people refer to me as a PUNdit.

Hey everyone! My name is Maya and I’m a rising sophomore from Chicago, IL. I am majoring in Finance with a minor in Collaborative Innovation. I am very involved at the IDEA Center as a startup coach and fellow. I am also on the Venture Capital Club and will be Walsh’s Dance Commissioner next year! I love volleyball (I plan to play interhall this year) and music (especially country and 2000s throwbacks). I am so excited to meet you guys in August!! : )

I’m part of the chemistry/biochemistry club on campus and love my dog, music, movies, and putting fun colors in my hair. My favorite things to do on campus are taking walks around the lake, frequent midnight visits to the Huddle, and hanging out with all my cool friends in Walsh. Hi Walshies!! My name is Lauren Stevens, and I’m a rising junior from Chattanooga, TN! I’m majoring in biochemistry with a minor in Italian, and on campus I’m involved in the Blagg lab researching drug development. I’ll also be the soul sisters commissioner in Walsh this year (a night of ~amazing~ snacks & high quality conversations)! Hey Walshies! My name is Emily DeFazio and I am a rising junior from Towaco, NJ :) I’m majoring in History with a double minor in Italian and Digital Marketing! On campus I work as an Associate Sports Editor for The Observer (our on-campus newspaper housed in the basement of SDH…it’s cooler than it sounds), Co-VP of the EduClub, and part-time as a historical research assistant. I’ll also be the Chair of Spirit in Walsh this fall (I’ll be abroad at St. Andrews in the spring), and hope to see you all join our flag football team! Hey y’all! My name is Cameron Oglesby and I’m from Monroe, Louisiana! I am a rising sophomore majoring in Finance and FTT (Film, Theater, and Television). I absolutely love going to the gym and lifting, and if I’m not at the Duncan gym, I’m probably watching a movie in Walsh and severely over-analyzing the costumes! I love music– all kinds– and I play a little guitar and piano. I’ll also be serving as a commissioner for the ~iconic~ Mr. ND pageant next year!
