Welcome to the ND family! You put the "love" in "Walsh love." We know that every student comes with a different family dynamic and that every student may not have one or both of their parents, and that other loving adults may function in that role. Please know that all are welcome here and that if any guardian-type adults need anything or have questions, please don't hesitate to call or email our rector. With that in mind, this page is all about you—we've compiled some information we think you'll find useful.

[Your Student's Name] [Room Number] Walsh Hall Notre Dame, IN 46556
Mail/Packages
USPS Mail is delivered to the main center on campus and then delivered to the dorm (usually within one or two days) from Monday-Saturday (excluding federal holidays) and will be sorted by Walsh Mail Clerk student workers in the afternoon each day. Please tell your students to try to check it every day if possible! Packages small enough to fit in the mailboxes will be placed there for pick-up. Also, boxes can fill up quickly due to their limited size.
Larger packages will be held in the mail room until your student picks it up during a designated Package Hour each day
Outgoing mail is picked up from the box in front of the mailroom Monday-Saturday, however, it requires an additional day of campus mail processing. There are standard USPS blue mailboxes at both dining halls, the library, by the stadium, and at the campus post office.
Sending a package? You can ship it from the campus post office, FedEx in LaFun, or a UPS drop box (LaFun, Grace Hall, McKenna Hall, Mendoza, Hesburgh, or the Mail Distribution Center).
The campus post office is located in Hammes-Mowbray Hall, behind Flanner Hall and across the street. If you need help locating it, we're more than happy to help.
Due to the fact that US Mail does not deliver to addresses on campus, Express Mail packages are NOT always delivered the next day.
Lastly, Labor Day is a federal holiday with no USPS delivery. The regular mail schedule will resume Tuesday.
Parent/Loved One Weekend Each Spring, Walsh Hall hosts a weekend where parents and loved ones are invited to campus to spend time with their woman of Walsh. In 2018 and 2019, they hosted a "Wild Women's Weekend," for any female mentor they'd like to celebrate. In 2020 they planned to host a "My Guy and I" Weekend, which had to be postponed. So in 2022, we honored the dad's and any male figures, it was so fun!
Domer Dollars You can load money onto your student's ND ID card at any time HERE. You'll just need to know their netID. Ask your student for hers, because long last names are cut off and common last names are often given numbers. She'll be able to use Domer Dollars in many of the eateries on campus, some off-campus (including Chipotle!).
Booking Flights: It is not too early to start speaking with your student about booking flights from/to Notre Dame. Please note that for students must be checked out of their rooms within 24 hours of their last final or last paper/project deadline. Please help them plan their flight schedules & departures accordingly.
Emergencies Your student will have filled out the EMERGENCY MEDICAL FORM every year, which gives us all of her basic medical and contact information. Hall Staff can access these when necessary and contact the appropriate person if something happens. We take your student's safety and security very seriously! Additionally, our Rector Liz asks that you notify her if something serious happens (i.e., a grandparent passes away) so that she can make sure your student is doing okay.
First-Year Welcome Weekend What about University orientation? Notre Dame has an orientation for First Year students and their parents the weekend before classes start. It is called Welcome Weekend. See the Welcome Weekend websitefor more information.
Junior Parents Weekend (JPW) This is a weekend for juniors to bring their parents/loved ones/guardians/mentors to Notre Dame for a weekend of family, food, and fun. Walsh holds an open house during this weekend for all of our junior Walshies. Please see the JPW WEBSITE for more information and updates in light of Covid-19.
Notre Dame Police Department (NDPD) The University has its own police force, and Walsh has its own Officer Kelly, who is part of a squad that patrols dorms on South Quad every night. You can contact NDPD at any time at (574) 631-5555. See THEIR WEBSITE for more information.
Notre Dame Fire Department (NDFD) We also have our own Fire Department, and run regular drills in every hall. Walsh always does well at getting our Walshies out in a safe and timely manner! See NDFD's WEBSITE for more information.
Summer Storage Unfortunately, there is no summer storage offered by the university. There are plenty of other off-campus storage units available, and girls often split them with their current or future roommates to make moving in and out even easier.
Privacy and Policy Notre Dame abides by federal laws and policies designed to protect the rights of students regarding the privacy of information and grades. Sometimes we are not able to share with parents or families particular information that is the student's right to share. Thank you for understanding our commitment to your student.
Please also look around the official NOTRE DAME PARENTS WEBSITE for even more information, or feel free to contact us if you're still stumped about something. Contact information is in the "about" pages. Thanks for visiting!
