About the Rooms:

Most first-year Walsh students will have double rooms, with one roommate. Each room comes equipped with:
  • A sink, a mirror, a recycling bin, and a trash can.
  • Furnishings include 1 twin XL bed, 1 desk, 1 desk chair, and a 1 open wardrobes with a drawer on the bottom PER student in the room.
  • Some first years may be assigned group rooms of triples and quads and will have that many sets of furniture in the room.

 Quick Details:
  • Walsh does not have air conditioning in the bedrooms (only common spaces)--so bring a large room fan and one or two small fans for your bed and desk!

  • Floors are tiled, and many residents purchase a small rug, but it is advised to wait until you talk to your roommate.

  • Unfortunately, we can't give exact dimensions for your individual room.
    - Each room in Walsh has different dimensions and first year rooms are the smallest.
    - A notable feature is that we have 9 foot ceilings, so stackable/vertical storage or decor would be wise.
    - Most of the doubles are about 140 square feet!

  • First Year rooms do not really have room for a futon, so it is advised to wait until you get here to see if that's something that will fit.

Modular Furniture:

Good news about modular furniture! You do not have to bring, build, find, buy, beg, steal, or borrow a homemade loft with lumber. DO NOT BRING LOFT MAKING MATERIALS!  The furniture in our hall is created for residence halls, and is made to be stackable. If you want to change the layout, our Lift, Loft, Love Crew can help you on Move-In day, or Hall Staff can help you in the first few weeks while you decide what works best for you and your roommate.

Smart Door Features:

Our "smart doors" require your Notre Dame ID Card to swipe into the building AND into your room. The doors default to automatically lock EVERY time the door is closed.  So be sure to take your ID CARD with you EVERYWHERE- even to the shower.

If you want to change this default lock setting, you can push the button on the back of the door panel (it will flash green), so it will remain unlocked.  To change it back so it locks automatically, just click the button again (it will flash red).

Examples Of Rooms You May Be Assigned:

You can zoom in if you like, note that the panoramic pictures are not quite to scale and will look bigger than they are.
First years are most often assigned to a regular double.
Group rooms like a triple or a quad are available when you pick your own room!

Approved Adhesives

Because our building has just been renovated, we are allowed VERY SPECIFIC adhesives to ensure that the hall remains sparkling for future Wild Woman as long as possible.
